A creative partnership that lit the sails of the Opera House.
CollaborOCEANS brings creatives together to protect marine life. Since 2021 we've been their creative partner — the website, the brand collateral, the events, and artwork animated across the Sydney Opera House for World Ocean Day.
An arts organisation with an ocean-sized mission.
CollaborOCEANS is an environmental arts organisation that brings together creatives from every industry to protect marine life — raising awareness for ocean conservation through exhibitions, events and campaigns.
Our work together began in 2021 with a projection onto the sails of the Sydney Opera House for World Ocean Day, and grew from there: the website, the brand collateral, flagship events, and eventually the Youth Ocean Carnival — which earned a case study of its own.
For World Ocean Day 2021, the sails of the Opera House became a canvas. In partnership with the artists, photographers and athletes of CollaborOCEANS — and with The Electric Canvas on projection — we modified and animated thirteen pieces of art to fit the most famous curves in Australia.
The website is ours end to end — design, development, hosting and maintenance on WordPress. Around it sits the identity in daily use: business cards, letterheads and email signatures, applied to an original logo by Sophie at Projkt. And when CollaborOCEANS convened the Ocean Panel — an invitation-only luncheon in the Opera House's Yallamundi Rooms, where the Youth Ocean Carnival was announced — we produced the full event suite, from seating plans and welcome posters to the slideshow on the screens.
Agency Astro has been an incredible creative partner across many of my projects over the years. From exhibitions and digital media to large scale experiences like our Luna Park day event with 33 secondary schools and projections on the Sydney Opera House, their commitment to excellence and attention to detail consistently brings ideas to life.
What started as one projection became a standing creative partnership: a website that stays maintained, a brand that stays consistent, and events that keep getting bigger canvases. Some clients need a deliverable. This one needed a creative department — and that is the role we still hold.
